Oldland lost their last pre-season friendly at home to Premier Division RG St George at the weekend
St George who have invested heavily over the summer were always going to be a stern test. The O's were managed for the day by Paul Weeks and Darren Sealey whilst the head coaches were off for the weekend seeing if Messi would come to BS30 for for some of Mrs Woodman's pulled pork and a can of Fosters each week. Oldland matched their opponents in the first half and played extremely well, Owen McCallum in particlar skipping numerous tackles and looking dangerous, going in level at the break.
In the second half, some formation changes and the movement of Cash Vinall from his central midfield slot in particular gave St George more room and space and having pinched a first goal they got a well deserved second half way through the half. Both sides continued to press and the crowd of over 100 (distanced out of course) enjoyed some real action for the first time in weeks.
A defeat against a stronger side but a very good performance and things look good for the season start this weekend
