Billy Hensler's 60th minute goal was enough to defeat Yate United at Coronation Park and seal a first ever title for the boys in their last season in the league. The team pipped Severnside by a single point, having beaten the Gloucestershire side 2-0 a month ago at Berkeley.

Managed by Chris Brown, Ian Feltham and assisted by Phil Jones, the under-16's have the chance to complete a historic double next month when they take on Stoke Lane Lions in the Geoff Mead Cup Final on May 19th at Keynsham.

For Phil in particular, it is a remarkable end to a great story. The team was started back in March 2005, training at Staple Hill School before then starting organised football eighteen months later at Kingswood Rugby Club. A story that has been more than twelve years in the making has ended with a league title in their final season as members of the Avon Youth League.

The bedrock of the team has been some strong loyalty within the team. Mitchell Jones, Zac Tucker, Liam Troake and Harry Poole have each played all eleven seasons for this team alone while another three in Harry Clark, Ryan Clark and Aidan Noble are now with the U-16 Colts team, having also participated in every season too.
